The Schools Fundraising Leaflet is designed to promote St George’s Hospital Charity to schools fundraisers. The leaflet talks about the reasons for picking the charity, patient case studies, what the impact of the charity is, and what resources and support are available to schools from the charity if selected.
The leaflet is targeted at pupils and teachers who make decisions on which charitable activities to support. Our task was to make the leaflet engaging and accessible, emotive and meaningful to a local schools audience ranging from junior to senior schools.
St George’s and Queen Mary’s are the specialist referral units for GPs. Many children will have been born at the hospital. Others may have received emergency care. Relatives will have been treated there and children will have visited them in hospital. The “24 Hours in A&E” television programme validates the claim that the A&E team is one of the busiest in the world.
Choosing St George’s Hospital Charity may reflect the experience of schoolchildren, staff and their families with St George’s and Queen Mary’s hospitals. It is certain that a significant number of those considering the pack will have personal experience of the hospitals. The reader also needed to be able to recognise that almost treatment for every form of illness, disease type, and medical specialism is covered by the hospitals.
